Our Worship - Services
|
One of our great strengths as a parish is the wide variety of styles ofworship we use, to meet the differing needs of the community. Both our churches are based in villages. Unlike in a town or city where people may have a wide variety of churches an styles to choose from, we cater for formal/informal, traditional/modern, liturgical/free, quiet/dynamic, organ/band etc. The relative blend changes with time, but the diversity remains. However, teaching in both churches is consistently Bible-based. We also equally value the contribution of both men and women to the ministry. An observer seeing the Vicar leading an informal service with singers and a band, dressed in shirt sleeves and clerical collar, would think we offer a more evangelical approach. However, another observer, seeing the same Vicar leading a choral Holy Communion service, wearing robes and chasuble, would think we respect a more traditional worship style. The truth is we try to meet and be sensitive to the differing needs of our parishioners. The contribution of both men and women to the ministry is equally valued, and there is a recognised dependence on the Holy Spirit and His gifts. We have a wide Range of Services each week in Wonersh and Blackheath to try to cater for lots of different tastes.
