Prayer in the Parish

Philippians 4:5-7
………Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God…..
Colossians 4:2
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
Prayer is an integral part of church life. It inspires our worship and supports our congregation and community through private prayer, through Home Groups and the regular Saturday morning prayer meeting.
You may find it helpful to refer to the three recent sermons in the series on Personal Devotion – Quiet Time, Reading the Bible and Devotion in Prayer.
- Prayer is exhaling the spirit of man and inhaling the spirit of God.
- Prayer requires more of the heart than of the tongue – Adam Clarke.
- Most people commit the same mistake with God that they do with their friends; they do all the talking.
Wonersh with Blackheath Prayer Chain
For pressing needs, we have a “Prayer Chain,” where a small team of individuals pray on a confidential basis at short notice for those in need. For any Prayer Requests please telephone Christine Merritt or if she is unavailable Chris Goldsmith or Nansi Parker.
All prayer requests are treated in strict confidence.
Pray-ers
Each child who attends one of our Sunday Children's and Youth groups has the opportunity to be supported through prayer by an adult member of the congregation. If you would like to be involved in this valuable part of our ministry, contact Nicky Cooke.
Prayer Meetings
Saturday Meeting - Please join the regular prayer meeting held on every Saturday morning at 9.00 normally in the Selwyn Room, when a number of Home groups meet to pray together. At these meetings we pray as a church for our leaders, the community, the nation and the world. They are very informal and anyone is welcome to attend. On the last Saturday each month the meeting concentrates upon our Overseas Ministry Partners.
Weekday Meetings - Wednesday 9am Start the Day = Morning Prayer in the Selwyn Room.
Prayers for Healing
We provide the opportunity for individuals to pray with others for Healing. At Wonersh on the first Sunday each month at the morning Communion Service, and also on the second Sunday at the evening communion service, there will be prayers for healing in the Lady Chapel.
Intercessions
There are prayer intercessions at most services in which there is an opportunity for everyone to participate or contribute. Please contact any member of the Leadership Team if you would like to become an Intercessor, or if you have anything you wish to be included. See the Guide for Leading Intercessions for help on what to do. Preferably if you wish to join the rota contact Hilary Vogel, see the Service Programme for details of the rota.
Personal Prayer
Pray systematically for the Parish of Wonersh and Blackheath.
- Pick up the parish Monthly Prayer Topics sheet. If you have any item for prayer please contact Ruth Fowke.
- Pray for our OMST Partners, specifically for those identified each week in the News Sheet.
- Use Bible Reading Notes.
