The Autumn Term starts on September 14th 2011 (this is a change from what was said in the summer programme)

Our team: Chris Evans, Liz Lister and Ruth Sowter plus a number of friendly supporters (from our church family) who work the tea rota each week, and our Children and Young Families Worker: Nicky Cooke

What’s it all about?

We hope it’s an opportunity to “escape” from the demands of being a parent/carer in a relaxed and supportive environment.  Sharing anxieties and problems with others in the same boat can ease the stress and sharing the fun too is important!. We think that all this is good for the children too as they learn to share and play with their peers and meet and respond to other adults.

We aim to provide:

·        A safe and welcoming environment

·        A range of fun activities for the children

·        A network of support (good listening ears!) and friendship for the adults

·        A bridge between the church and the community.

How does it work?

Wednesdays see us operating an open door policy and all are welcome – join us according to your own family needs

We provide a termly programme for Chatterbox and also a welcoming note to Family Services and other special family events and services.

We ask for a donation of £1.50 a family. This money is used to purchase new toys/activities for the children. We have started a series of Special Nights Out for the adults. We share a meal together (no charge and no washing up!) and have a speaker. Topics have included "Children and Spirituality" and "First aid in the home" and "Helping your child to talk and listen". Our next topic is From Home to School.

Once a term we have a special session in the church, for example celebrating Christmas or hearing a Bible story, brought to life with visual aids and songs etc

We also offer a Meals on Wheels Service for families with new babies and those who need assistance when someone is ill.

What can parents/carers do when they come?

·        Help to keep everyone safe by taking responsibility for their own child/children.
·        Please find time for fun and play with the children – they will love it!
·        Make sure that their child/children is quite well before coming to the group especial after tummy upsets etc.
·        Make sure that they have filled in a registration form.
·        Ensure that they have read our safety procedures sheet.
·        Keep a wary eye on busy little folk when refreshments are served!

And finally – we really do look forward to seeing you at Chatterbox but should you need a quiet chat and it’s not Wednesday you can call Chris, Liz or Nicky (numbers in the church directory)
