Sunday Kids Church

We’re delighted to welcome children and families from churched and non-churched backgrounds alike.

Please come and see what we're about!

We meet during term time at The Vicarage, starting just before 10am and coming into church in time for the last hymn or Communion.

At St. John's we run a unique model of Kids Church, whereby all the children are together. We have a group of around 10 children aged 2-8 and we love the fact that these children are known so well by each other and their helpers. They get a real feeling of belonging and and we love to see them grow.

The children have a very real understanding of what it means to be a Christian, and how Jesus loves them and wants to be their friend. They understand that Jesus is God's Son, and that He came to earth as part of 'God's great rescue plan'.  Each session comprises an initial input where we look at much-loved old and new testament Bible stories and chat about how these are relevant in our lives today. The children particularly love looking at Jesus' miracles- as do we- and their sense of wonderment is infectious. We play games, do craft activities, sing and share snacks. We really enjoy our time together and the hour flies past.

Families with babies are welcome in church. We love the sound of young children, but if you need a change of scene at any time, please do pop over to the vicarage with your baby. There is also a quiet room at the back of church where the church service is streamed. This is ideal if you want to feel a part of the service but need a bit of space.

Our All Service takes place at St. John's on the first Sunday of each month at 10am. It is a shorter than usual, interactive, fun service involving members of the congregation whatever their age. If you would like to come and try church out, this would be an ideal time to start.
